Applying Nature - Responsible Banking
This course is set within the context of the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) – the world’s leading sustainable banking framework.
Applying Nature-Responsible Banking builds on the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) Academy’s first course about nature – Introduction to Nature and Responsible Banking although it can be studied without taking the introductory course.
While the introductory course aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of nature and why its health is so important for our people, planet, and profit, this second course aims to help you apply a nature-responsible approach to banking. What can banks do to reduce their negative impacts on nature and move towards having more positive impacts? And how should they do it? A key objective of this course is to equip learners with some of the skills they need to navigate this change, and create win-win scenarios for their bank, its customers, and the environment.
On completion of this course, the learner is able to:
recognise the negative impacts a bank can have on nature through its financing activities, and assess a loan portfolio to identify sectors that have the highest impacts;
identify and interpret nature-related dependencies for customers and clients in a loan portfolio;
assess nature-related physical and transition risks arising from a loan portfolio and recognise nature-related opportunities for their bank and its customers and clients;
set nature-related targets in line with the PRB Target Setting guidance for banks;
explain how to develop a strategy to mitigate risks and impacts, maximise opportunities, and achieve nature-related targets; and disclose nature-related information to stakeholders.
